As soon as I received my Mosh Posh package I started cutting up the wonderful Sassafras Lass Vintage Yummy paper. You know the one, the one with those darling little frames all over. So, I had this neat little pile of frames. Now what? Pretty quick I envisioned this little ledge shelf with frames running across it. So, I started arranging the frames on the top of the paper with the Sass edge as my "shelf" To take that shelf-idea further, I adhered stuff with my ever trusty pop dots. See, how cute is this?:
I finished up the page with some hand-cut flowers from the Lily Bee paper in the lower left hand corner. I topped that with some CBX felt flowers. Added my pix and a little more Sass-lovin. Now, that my scissors have had their workout, it was time to tell the story. I tucked my journaling on a JB card behind the page that pulls "out" with a flower I put together with a Sass Paper Whimsy and Sass chipboard. The journaling says: "It's no secret. There are days I wonder if I can keep at it. Most days really. My days are filled with pulling kids out of the dishwasher, repairing the broken gate on the stairs (yet again), and rescuing Sullivan from the grip of Sassy. But then, mouth full of lunch, Sullivan throws me a big old kiss, Muah! I think I'll make it."
Just a little snapshot of how I put this page together AND a look at this crazy life of mine. Thanks for stopping by. Leave me a comment about your crazy life and I'll enter your name in a drawing for a little package of scrappy goodness courtesy of little old me. I'll draw a name on Friday at 5ET. See you next time!
Jenny, my life is nowhere near as crazy as yours!! It gets alittle hairy, but nothing major. Mine are spread pretty far apart! Two kids left at home (one out the door last summer). I still help her out and worry about her, but it is much more calm around here without all that drama. Seriously, not a long enough break tho. Britty is officially hitting her teens, and so it starts again. Oh the mood swings! Geez. Do you realize that by the time Ben is Laura's age, I will have 30 years of dealing with the cruddy teen stuff!! Yikes!!Then there is the energizer baby. He is a one man wrecking ball. I am sure nothing like having him times two as you do. I am on my own tho. I have always been a single parent. Greg works alot!! As funny as it sounds, I have a ton more patience than he does!! He isn't overly involved. I don't get a break either. I can kind of understand what you are going thru... Love your LO's. I loved the shelf idea, very cool!! So funny to read your enabling!! You are very good at it!! :D Hang in there, before you know it, Pat will be home. The summer will fly by. Will he get some R & R time between now and when his deployment is up? I am here for you.. If you need to vent, you are welcome to email me anytime. :) theunruhs@sbcglobal.net
ReplyDeleteI love your self of frames! I am totally going to copy that.
ReplyDeleteYou are one gal who has it all together! I only have 2 kids and being alone with them makes me CRAZY most days.
I hope your hubby has plans for another weekend trip home soemtime soon!
Thanks so much for the post today, Jenny!! You totally rock, MUAH!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the shelf on the LO! I will definitely try this.
ReplyDeleteI love your layout. The papers are gorgeous. I only have 2 kids so I can't say that my life is as crazy as yours. But I'm also a working mom so my life is still busy, busy, busy.
ReplyDeletei just adore the embellishments along the top! beautiful
ReplyDeleteI am a huge fan of your work anyway Jenny...you are so inspiring. I love this layout - and it is full of Sass - your favorite!!
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing with that Sass paper! Love it!
ReplyDeleteAwesome projects! I love all the Sassafras cuteness. My life isn't quite as crazy as yours but I have 2 kids who keep my hoppin' and I'm always having weekend guests, kids' activities, family activities (my husband is 1 of 7 kids) and my kids' friends over a lot so life is busy!
ReplyDeleteLove the LO :) My life isn't crazy with 5 kids but I do have 2 kids and 2 dogs that keep me pretty busy!! This week is craziness with the end of school, soccer, dance & gymnastics, getting teacher gifts ready, dance recital...blah blah blah!!! Next week I'm sleepin' in!!! (whether the kids like it or not!)
ReplyDeleteI like that we have some things in common! I'm here trying to not go crazy with these 5 young people while my hubsters is off saving the world, too!! lol (I'm just glad that the youngest here are 4 and 5! I don't think I could do 2 babies.)
ReplyDeleteBTW, I LOVE Sass!! And I am so diggin' your blog header!!
I have five animals (two are litter-mates, you know, so they're like twins right?) and luckily for me my life isn't nearly as crazy as yours ;)!
ReplyDeleteGreat layout!! Thanks for the inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I can't even begin to try to compare my crazy to your crazy. I'm not even going to try! LOL! The craziest thing that happened to me today was that the minute I walked outside into the humid drizzly weather (after blow drying, ironing, smoothing, and product-enhancing) my hair poofed up like a pom-pom. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea w/those frames! I haven't even begun to get into this kit yet! I don't know how you do it?! I can't believe that you handle all those babies on your own for the long periods of time you do! You deserved every bit of your Mother's Day you had. Especially that Vera Purse lol! I have me a couple myself. In fact I just sold a couple on craigslist and am hoping to get another one soon!
ReplyDeleteLove your LO! so creative and amazing.

My life is a merry go round every day hun being the mom of 5 boys is a treat everyday. Today my 4 year old decided to break the outside outlet ughhhhhh....
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely PRECIOUS! Love all of the little details!
ReplyDeleteWell, my life is not nearly as crazy as yours :) Probably the craziest thing that happened to me today was tripping over myself on the way into work, falling and injuring myself as well as breaking the screen on my laptop! Yep, just call me graceful.... :)
ReplyDeleteawesome layout
ReplyDeleteI have 3 kiddies here -can't imagine having 5. Most days is fairly quite here until school gets out and then its a crazy madhouse. The only time I get to scrap is at nap time.
ReplyDeleteI only have two...and I thought that my days were crazy :) It doesn't help that they are 8 years apart though, I am pulled in totally different directions. I applaud you and your devotion, I love seing the inpiration!
ReplyDeleteI love your shelf idea! How cute!
ReplyDeleteWith a toddler, my life can definitely be crazy at times! I worked last night while hubby took care of our daughter. I was exceptionally tired and was looking forward to just flopping on the couch when I got home. McKenna had been having a fussy day, but Ryan put her to bed about an hour before I got home. As soon as I got home, she started getting fussy and upset in her crib. I went in to calm her down and she proceeded to get sick all over me and my hair... still in my work clothes, by the way. Awww... she saved it up for mama! Don't I feel special?? yay. Thankfully she is much better this morning.
Those little frames on your "shelf" are the cutest, what a fab idea!! I think I need to steal it! Great photos and fabulous LO. My boys are teens now but I can remember those hectic days. Just two was enough for me! Kudos to you!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the LO! My life isn't crazy with kids but I do have 3 cats, 3 dogs, 2 birds, a rabbit, and a tortoise that keep me pretty busy!! Oh yeah, I also take care of my Mom!! But, I do love my life and wouldn't trade it for anything!!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday. Love the LO.
ReplyDeleteLove the layout.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea of using the paper edge as a shelf. I'll have to try that. :)
ReplyDeleteCool ideas! I love that LO!
ReplyDeletewhat a great idea--a shelf and it is very cute love it all!!
ReplyDeleteHow cute!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of an old Beatles song - very cute
ReplyDeleteI love that little shelf idea! thanks for sharing! I know exactly what you mean... I think that I have had it being Mommy and then my 4 year old tells me "Mommy you are the BEST mommy in the world and I love you!!" Well, shucks.. that just makes all the annoying stuff go right away!

I adore the shelf with the frames on it. Seriously adorable! And so very creative. My life is filled with running from appointment to appointment. We adopted two special needs girls through the state of Louisiana, and we are an on the go family. I seriously think if we got stranded somewhere in my fan that I have enough food/water/blankets/emergency supplies to last a week. Almost forgot to add that after we adopted the girls I got pregnant and had a little boy! Chaos reigns in my house (just ask Michelle) but it's a good kind of chaos. I never have time to be bored!
ReplyDelete* Edited to say* I meant in my VAN. LOL
ReplyDeleteMy one, almost two year old, son has given me a new reason to visit the doctor every week for the last month. Thankfully nothing serious, but just enough to add a little chaos to our already hectic life.
ReplyDeleteLove your layout!!
ReplyDeleteWhile hubby is away saving the world, you're at home saving the home!! Way to go SuperMom!!
I thought I had left a comment earlier this week but I know your realize your blog is one of those I have to use IE to comment. I love your layout and the close-up photos. They give me an idea of how to do cool stuff like this. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI love your layout. The colors and embellies are perfect. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Jenny! I'm a little late with the blog hopping, but I just wanted to let you know that I stopped by today. I'm glad you posted the detail pics of your layout, it helps to see the dimension ... what a great idea to create a picture shelf!
ReplyDeleteAnd I just gotta say, God bless you ... I don't know HOW you do it! I have "only" 3 kids (4 if you count my husband, who's currently laid off & home with us too LOL) and there are some days when I just think the constant chaos is going to drive me batty!!! But then I remind myself how LUCKY I am to have 3 healthy children, and that in a few years I'll be missing all the noise.
Take care :)
